MSE Student in Facebook Contest

We have a guest post from one of our incredible students, Sylvia Lai.

“Hello! My name is Sylvia and I’m a student in the MSE program. I don’t think I’ve ever written a blog post before, so please bear with me if this post is a little odd. Another thing I’ve also never tried before this month is entering a Facebook contest, which brings me to what I’d like to talk to you about today. I have a small business,, which sells reusable water bottles that donate a part of the proceeds to charity. One of the charities that I donate to is the Thirst Project (, which is an organization that helps to bring clean water to communities in need, as well as educates students about the water crisis (a crisis in which nearly one billion people do not have access to safe, clean drinking water!) I have great respect for what this amazing organization does, and have worked hard to raise awareness and donations for the clean water cause through Bambou Heart. This year, the Thirst Project is giving away one ticket to their annual gala via a Facebook contest. I would be so grateful for the opportunity to meet with fellow clean water advocates to learn more about finding solutions to end the water crisis. Therefore, I am asking if you could kindly take a second to vote for my picture at this link (All you have to do is click “VOTE” and wait for the button to turn green!): I’d really appreciate it if you could vote once a day until April 15th. If you would like to get reminders to vote, please feel free to join the “Awesome People” group that I created to thank you for your help: Thank you so much for your time taken to help me! Gratefully, Sylvia”
